Allegations in addition to ongoing trial for fraud, bribery, and conspiracy.
U.S. prosecutors brought new allegations against Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey this week in his ongoing corruption trial, claiming that he helped a businessman broker a deal with an investment company tied to the government of Qatar.
The new indictment claims that the senator introduced a businessman to a member of the Qatari royal family, allowing him to negotiate a multimillion-dollar investment in a New Jersey real estate project. In exchange, the indictment claims that Senator Menendez received more gold and tickets to a Formula One race. This is on top of the cash, gold bars, and luxury vehicles the senator allegedly received from the government of Egypt, the original bribery charge for which Senator Menendez is currently being tried.
Senator Menendez pleaded not guilty to his previous bribery charges in October.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Senator Menendez and his legal counsel to be truthful as they go through the corruption trial.
- For U.S. prosecutors to argue their case honestly and with integrity.
